The 2015 TESCO Teams of the League have been announced. The best 15
players from each division were honoured with selection on the Teams of the
League at Croke Park on Friday. Throughout the 7 rounds of the league and the
knock out stages managers were asked to select the best players on the
opposition teams with those players that consistently received most votes being selected on the final 15.
The Division 1 selection is dominated by Galway and Cork with the
finalists providing 4 players each. Monaghan and Dublin also have 2 players
each on the selection whilst, Tyrone, Mayo and Kerry all have one player
selected. In Division 2 Armagh dominate the selection as the champions claim 4
places on the selection including an amazing 7th selection for their
captain, Caroline O’Hanlon who has now been selected on the Team of the League
every year since they were introduced in 2009. Sligo also have 4 players
selected on the Division 3 Team of the League including Noelle Gormley who is
selected at goalkeeper which is a big change from her selection at full forward
in 2014. Offaly and Limerick dominate the Division 4 selection as the finalists
account for 4 players each.
The TESCO/Irish Daily Star Manager of the Month award was also presented
to James Daly who lead his Armagh team to victory in Division 2 of the National
Football League against a previously undefeated Donegal side. The overall
TESCO/Irish Daily Star Manager of the League award was presented, for the
second year in a row, to Cork’s Eamonn Ryan. The great Rebellette manager has
now lead Cork to a three in a row of TESCO National Football League titles and
their 9th since 2005. Eamonn and Cork will now be turning their
attention to collecting a 10th All Ireland title in 11 years and a 5th
in a row when they get their campaign underway against Kerry in the Munster
Championship.
Speaking at the Announcement of the TESCO NFL Teams of the League LGFA
President Marie Hickey said ‘We are delighted to announce the winners of the
Teams of the League today. The 60 players represented on the 4 teams truly are
a credit to themselves, their counties and their clubs. It is also great to
honour players that perhaps would not earn individual honours later in the
year. I want to congratulate all of the players and wish them all the very best
of luck as the Summer and the Championship approaches.’
